Lucy Shires is an urban abstract photographer, who; in her Textures project, takes abtract photographs of different surfaces and textures that surround her in her everyday life I love the effects created in each picture. I think it is a simple technique, but really shows and carries the theme throughout this project. Her photo's show different angles and bursts of colour to draw the eye towards the photograph. The abstract nature of the photographs inspires thoughts in the viewers mind to make them relate these surfaces to their surroundings and make them make decisions about what the photographs are of. She uses different techniques in her photographs, differing from depth of field to rule of thirds in order to once again draw the eye to the main focus of the photograph. Her photos are made up of different area's in urban culture that people encounter and are surrounded by daily and this helps the viewer relate to the photographs and inspire thoughts about the images.
